Backup Plans – It is important to have your business critical data backed up on a regular basis. Globalize Networks has experience developing robust backup plans for many types of business environments. We specialize in using automation to create solutions customized to your company’s needs.
We have done a lot of work with Symantec’s Backup Exec product on the Windows side. For Linux systems, we have implemented tools like Rsnapshot and MondoArchive. For virtual systems, we have implemented VMWare’s native backup solution and also vRanger. VEEAM also has some inexpensive offerings.
Recovery Testing – You don’t want to discover a problem with your backup plan when you’ve just lost data. Regular testing of the recovery process is important. We recommend testing at least once or twice a year, and can provide assistance with this to help validate backup procedures.
Off-Site Storage – Sending backups off-site each week can protect against disasters such as fire. For some data sets, sending the data to the cloud is a good option. Amazon’s Glacier offering might be a good fit for some companies.
Disaster Recovery – For companies with the budget, business continuity can be maintained during a disaster by having a secondary data center. We have worked with nScaled, which has a good disaster recovery service based on the technologies from VMWare and FalconStor.
Contingency Plans – It’s important to have procedures in place to deal with problems like power outages or Internet connectivity failures. Proper planning can help assure your business continuity when disaster strikes. Globalize can help you develop and document your business continuity plans.
Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Replica Hosting for Disaster Recovery – Globalize Networks is starting a new hosting service to provide customers with an off-site Hyper-V replication target for backup and disaster recovery. Clients can take advantage of Windows Server 2012’s new Hyper-V Replica feature to replicate business critical virtual machines to our data center. We will provide setup assistance and failover planning and testing. In the event of a problem at their primary data center, our clients will be able to spin up recent replicas of production VMs on our servers and restore network services. This is a great way to provide site redundancy, or even to compensate for single points of failure within existing network environments. For example, most virtual server clusters rely on shared storage such as a SAN. In the event of a shared storage failure, many businesses would face downtime until the vendor could provide replacement equipment. Our service would allow these businesses to failover those virtual servers to our data center. Contact us for more information.
